HPV mRNA test in women with minor cervical lesions : experience of the University Hospital of North Norway
Sørbye, Sveinung Wergeland; Fismen, Silje; Gutteberg, Tore Jarl; Mortensen, Elin (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2010)In the Norwegian Cervical Cancer Screening Programme tests for detection of human papillomavirus (HPV) are used to triage women with minor cytological cervical lesions. The material in this study comprises samples from 1798 women in the period 2006–2008. The HPV test was performed according to the guidelines of the Norwegian Cancer Registry. The HPV mRNA test (PreTect HPV-Proofer) detects and types ... -
HPV mRNA testing is more specific than HPV DNA testing in triage of women with minor cervial lesions
Sørbye, Sveinung Wergeland; Fismen, Silje; Gutteberg, Tore Jarl; Mortensen, Elin; Skjeldestad, Finn Egil (Conference object; Konferansebidrag, 2013)In Norway, repeat cytology and HPV testing is used in delayed triage of women with minor cytological lesions. Repeat cytology, HPV DNA testing (Roche Cobas 4800), and HPV mRNA testing (NorChip PreTect HPV-Proofer) were used to follow up 575 women aged 25–69 years with ASCUS / LSIL in primary screening. A total of 206 women (35.8%) were DNA+ and 107 (18.6%) were mRNA+. Repeated ASC-US / LSIL was found ... -
Increased sinusoidal flow is not the primary stimulus to liver regeneration
Conley, Lene N.; Mortensen, Kim Erlend; Nygaard, Ingvild; Sorenesen, Peter; Mortensen, Elin; Bendixen, Christian; Revhaug, Arthur (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2010-01-20)Background: Hemodynamic changes in the liver remnant following partial hepatectomy (PHx) have been suggested to be a primary stimulus in triggering liver regeneration. We hypothesized that it is the increased sinusoidal flow per se and hence the shear-stress stimulus on the endothelial surface within the liver remnant which is the main stimulus to regeneration. In order to test this hypothesis we ... -

Triage of Women with Low-Grade Cervical Lesions : HPV mRNA Testing versus Repeat Cytology
Sørbye, Sveinung Wergeland; Arbyn, Marc; Fismen, Silje; Gutteberg, Tore Jarl; Mortensen, Elin (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2011)In Norway, women with low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (LSIL) are followed up after six months in order to decide whether they should undergo further follow-up or be referred back to the screening interval of three years. A high specificity and positive predictive value (PPV) of the triage test is important to avoid unnecessary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. At the University ... -
